Upcoming Smartphones of Various Companies

The Indian  smartphone   market is known to be extremely competitive, with numerous offerings at each price point. With short refresh cycles and multiple launches each month, it can get confusing whether you should wait or choose a phone that is currently available. Knowing what’s on the horizon can help with this decision.  Like each year in the first half of 2022, we saw Samsung bring it's new flagship to India, followed by other Manufacturers like OnePlus .The Xiaomi-Realme battle reached new price points and some silent brands tried to make a comeback. Overall it was a good year for smartphones, even when companies were faced with challenges. In the Second half of 2020, we expect more devices than the first half, since the restrictions are now lifted. However, we expect al the companies to host the online-only launch event. While there are multiple phones expected to launch in the coming days, I have made a  list of few smartphones scheduled to launch in July in ...

Poco M2 Pro vs Realme 6 Pro - The Clash of Snapdragon 720G Processors

Image
Poco unveiled the hotly-anticipated M2 Pro a few days back. During the launch, Poco India's general manager C Manmohan offered his two cents on why Poco M2 Pro should be the clear winner in its class, but those opinions were based on the comparison of Poco M2 Pro with the Realme 6 Pro. The Realme 6 Pro was launched earlier this year with a Snapdragon 720G processor, which Poco has used on the M2 Pro. But apart from this similarity, the Poco M2 Pro and Realme 6 Pro have many differences in their specifications. The Poco M2 Pro looks like a rebranded Redmi Note 9 Pro except for a few things that have been changed here and there to make the former a better choice among customers. But while Poco M2 Pro manages to outshine the Redmi Note 9 Pro with thin margins, its fight with the Realme 6 Pro is discernibly worthwhile since the prices of the two are different. While the Poco M2 Pro costs Rs 14,999, the Realme 6 Pro will set you back by Rs 18,499. After all, the customer needs to go for...

Fate of Chinese Smartphone Manufacturers due to COVID-19

Image
COVID-19 has caused China's global reputation to take a hit, leading the government to  spend billions of dollars in a PR campaign  to 'repair' its image. Is there a chance this will cause a global rebellion against Chinese brands? Last month, China's handling of the coronavirus played a part in UK PM Boris Johnson  threatening to limit the role of Huawei  in its development of 5G in the UK. But Lenovo and Xiaomi have, in fact, made gains during this period, and the latter has  surpassed Huawei to become the third largest smartphone vendor  in the world. Based on earnings, Alibaba and Tencent have also been largely unaffected save for an expected dip in media advertising. TikTok too has continued its upward trajectory. State-owned news portal  China Daily has claimed  that Chinese brands are performing well overseas, owing to China's international 'facemask diplomacy' or its efforts to offer aid and support to markets still heavily stricken by the...

Difference between EIS and OIS- Which one is better?

What is the difference between EIS and OIS in Smartphone Camera? Lets find out First of all let’s understand them. Optical image stabilization (OIS) In this technique the image is stabilized by varying the optical path of the sensor. This is real time compensation and hence no alteration or image degradation takes place.  The lens assembly is moved parallel to the image plane .  Shake detecting sensors( Gyro -sensors) are used, which transmit this information to a microcomputer which in turn converts them into the Drive signal which ultimately moves the lens Assembly to correct the image project on the sensor before it is converted to digital format and thus off-sets your motion. This is the basic principle of all OIS techniques. Different companies have different names for their OIS Technology eg. PureView by Nokia, Ultrapixel by HTC, etc. Nokia made the first cell phone optical stabilized sensor built into Nokia Lumia 920. OIS is more popular in consumer camera devices becau...
